No, Those Weren't Gunshots You Heard In Morris Twp.: Police Chief
Many residents reported hearing gunshots and fireworks. It was actually a helicopter landing.
MORRIS TOWNSHIP, NJ — Some in Morris Township thought they heard gunshots. Others thought fireworks. It turned out both groups were wrong, according to Police Chief Mark DiCarlo.
Police determined the sound came from a helicopter landing, which was part of a brief drill Tuesday evening at the National Guard Armory on Western Avenue.
"There was no source of explosion, however may have been the sounds made by the helicopter," DiCarlo said in a Nixle alert. "There was no emergency and or danger."
