Woman Killed By Train Near Convent Station

New Jersey Transit police are investigating the incident.

MORRIS TOWNSHIP, NJ — A train struck and killed a woman early Monday morning near Convent Station. NJ Transit Police are leading the investigation.

The incident occurred just after 4:30 a.m. around Kahn Road — a few blocks away from Convent Station in Morris Township. NJ Transit reported no injuries to the approximately 30 employees and passengers on the train. The train left Dover at about 4:16 a.m. to travel to New York Penn Station.

The Morris & Essex Line temporarily suspended service between Summit and Dover. The line also reported delays of up to an hour Monday morning. The train line began operating "on or close to schedule" as of noon Monday, NJ Transit said.
