Where Around Morris Township Can Kids Get COVID-19 Vaccinations?

MORRIS TOWNSHIP, NJ — Children 12 and older are now eligible for Pfizer-BioNTech's COVID-19 vaccine, with a parent accompanying them. But it's not available at every vaccination site.

But there are several locations near Morris Township and Morris Plains where parents and guardians can bring their children to get vaccinated against the virus.

The Food and Drug Administration granted emergency use authorization May 10 for Pfizer's COVID vaccine for children 12-15. Currently, only the Pfizer vaccine has been approved for anyone younger than 18.

Children are less likely than adults to experience severe symptoms or death from COVID-19. But a growing body of evidence suggests that the vaccines may make people less likely to transmit the virus to others, according to the Centers for Disease Control.

Upon the approval, Gov. Phil Murphy said children may be able to get vaccinated through the following way:

• through partnerships with schools
• pediatricians
• local pharmacies
• at mega-sites
• using the state's COVID-19 mega-sites to bring doses directly to the communities where the children live

• Summit Medical Group: 140 Park Ave., Florham Park
• Morris County Megasite: Rockaway Townsquare Mall, 301 Mt. Hope Ave., Rockaway
• Walgreens: 200 Baldwin Rd., Parsippany
• Walgreens: 123 Morristown Rd., Bernardsville
• Walgreens: 22 W Main St., Denville
• Saint Barnabas Medical Center: 94 Old Short Hills Road, Livingston
• Overlook Medical Center: 99 Beauvoir Ave., Summit

Stop & Shop also announced that it began offering the Pfizer vaccine to anyone 12 and older at select locations, including Morris Plains and Madison. Here's more info.

Many New Jersey universities made full vaccination against COVID-19 a requirement for students returning to campus in fall. But no state currently requires students to receive a COVID-19 vaccine.
