
The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for eight New Jersey counties Sunday as snow and slick roads are expected this weekend. Another alert was issued for more winter weather later in the week.
The winter weather advisory was issued for Sussex, Passaic, Bergen, western Essex, Morris, Somerset, Warren and Hunterdon counties. The advisory will take effect at 9 p.m. Sunday and expire at 10 a.m. Monday.
A hazardous weather outlook was issued for the whole state. A storm system will affect New Jersey late Tuesday night through Wednesday night. Snow initially will become a wintry mix on Wednesday before changing to plain rain Wednesday night, resulting in potentially hazardous driving conditions, according to the NWS.

Here is what is expected for areas impacted by the winter weather advisory:
- * WHAT...Mixed precipitation expected. Total snow accumulations of up to two inches and ice accumulations of a light glaze expected.
- * WHEN...From 9 PM this evening to 10 AM EST Monday.
- * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday morning commute.

- Sunday: Increasing clouds, with a high near 36. Northeast wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the morning.
- Sunday night: Snow before 1am, then snow and sleet between 1am and 4am, then freezing rain and sleet after 4am. Low around 27. Southeast wind around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. Little or no ice accumulation expected. New snow and sleet accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.
- Washington's Birthday: A chance of freezing rain and sleet before 10am, then a chance of rain between 10am and 3pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 38. Light and variable wind becoming northwest 5 to 8 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New sleet accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
- Monday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 17. Northwest wind 9 to 11 mph.
- Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 31. Northwest wind 7 to 9 mph.
