Morristown Rite Aid To Become COVID Vaccine Site

Stores in Morristown, Denville and Lake Hiawatha will get vaccines.

MORRISTOWN, NJ — Three Rite Aid locations in Morris County will administer COVID-19 vaccines, including one in Morristown.

New Jersey added Rite Aid stores to its list of public COVID-19 vaccine sites for eligible recipients, including 213 South St., Morristown.

The state's vaccine hub website now has listed a number of stores in towns in New Jersey and asked people to sign up here.

The following locations will also become vaccine sites in Morris County:

  • 123 East Main St., Suite 16, Denville
  • 480 North Beverwyck Rd., Lake Hiawatha

Morris County's vaccine sites include the regional megasite in Rockaway Townsquare Mall; ShopRite pharmacies in Greater Morristown, Flanders and Lincoln Park; and RMG Urgent Care Center-Ledgewood.

The New Jersey Department of Health has logged 88,142 shots administered in Morris County. Morris County has an estimated population of 491,845, and the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines each require two doses per person.

State officials set a goal for 70 percent of New Jersey's adult population — 4.7 million people — to get vaccinated against COVID-19 in six months. The Pfizer and Moderna vaccines require two doses each, so the state would need to administer 9.4 million shots to reach its goal by June.

The New Jersey Department of Health has logged 1,244,224 doses administered as of noon Friday, putting the Garden State 13.2 percent toward its objective.
