3 Straight Days Of Zero New COVID Cases In Morristown

MORRISTOWN, NJ — Morristown is on a streak. For the past three days, zero new coronavirus cases have emerged from the town.

Officials reported one new Morristown case Tuesday, bringing the town at 2,173 infections since the pandemic began. But that figure hasn't changed as of Friday's numbers.

The Morris County Division of Health reported only seven new cases from Tuesday to Friday. The state has confirmed 933 COVID-19 deaths and 253 probable deaths in Morris County since the onset of the pandemic.

According to state data, the following in Morristown have received at least one COVID-19 vaccine dose: 58 percent of all ages, 69 percent of adults and 97 percent of seniors. Forty-six percent of all ages, 55 percent of adults and 86 percent of seniors are fully vaccinated.

The New Jersey Department of Health set a goal for 70 percent of the state's adults — 4.7 million people — to get fully vaccinated by the end of June. As of Friday, 3.78 million New Jerseyans have been fully vaccinated, according to health officials.

The Morris County Regional Vaccination Center now vaccinates people 12 and older. Morristown Mayor Tim Dougherty encouraged people to set appointments online. Children are only eligible for the Pfizer vaccine and need a parent or guardian present.

The megasite at Rockaway Townsquare Mall also accepts walk-ins from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
