Art And Music To Takeover The Streets Of Morristown Thursday

Meet Me in Morristown, an event curated by Morris Arts that highlights local artists and businesses slated for Thursday evening.

This Thursday evening Morris Arts plans to blanket Morristown with local artists, musicians, and small businesses for the third time this summer.

The event series, which began last summer, takes place on the last Thursday of each month. Meet Me in Morristown is focused on stimulating the local economy through art and culture. According to the Morris Arts' Facebook page, the event features more than 45 artists selling their wares from handmade jewelry and pottery to paintings and sculptures.

In addition to a variety of fine artists and artisans, the event will also showcase local musicians at different locations throughout downtown Morristown.

The Morristown Green:

  • The Atlanta Cafe Band - an original band with American roots; the members have performed together for over 35 years
  • Gefyra Drum Circle with Carol Pena - You are invited to drum and dance with the drum circle to build rhythms, celebrate life, play and dance! Family friendly drum circle near "The Alliance" statue at the center of the main lawn on the Morristown Green.


South Street:

  • Morris Tech Jazz Devils - jazz, pop and alternative music
  • Hickory Tree Chorus - an award-winning women's chorus dedicated to advancing the musical art form of four-part a cappella harmony sung in the barbershop style.
  • Ida Leigh Watson - Americana / Indie Folk Rock / Singer-Songwriter

PC Morristown Parish House:

  • The Craft Band - incorporates Acoustic/Alternative instrumentation with rock dynamics and improvisation that is a fusion of elements of funk, jazz, blues, hip-hop and reggae.

Over at the Morristown and Morris Township Library, visitors can treat themselves to a performance of the award-winning musical comedy, "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee". Doors open at 7p.m. Winner of two Tony awards, "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee", is a hilarious and fun performance that occasionally lets the audience get in on some of the action.

Meet Me in Morristown kicks off at 5p.m. and runs until 9p.m. The event series also features side walk sales and demonstrations from the various businesses located in downtown Morristown.
