Bar Patron Threatens to Shoot Bouncer, Cops Say

When a patron at a Washington Street bar got into an argument with a staff member there, the patron said he would put a gun into the employee's mouth and pull the trigger, according to .

Matthew Fleissner, 24, of Summit was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and threats to kill at 10:36 p.m. on Aug. 26.

Officer Jesse Dickerson was on foot patrol on South Street when dispatch reported the incident, saying a man had threatened to shoot a security guard at , according to Dickerson's report.

As the officer approached the business, several people pointed toward Bank Street shouting, "there he goes," according to the report. Dickerson headed toward Fleissner, who had his hands in his pockets and did not initially stop when ordered to do so, according to the report.

Dickerson ordered Fleissner again to stop and take his hands out of his pockets, police said. Fleissner stopped this time, turned around and took one hand out of his pocket. The officer told him to remove his other hand and was about to draw his weapon, which prompted Fleissner to remove his other hand from his pocket, according to the report.

Dickerson began to search Fleissner for weapons, finding none, while Fleissner told the officer he had no right to search him, according to the report. Fleissner continued to protest, yelling a number of obscenities at the officer as he was placed under arrest, according to the report.

The officer then spoke with employees at the bar who said Fleissner had been thrown out for being disorderly and fighting with other patrons but had refused to leave, according to the report.

As Fleissner was escorted to the exit, he turned around and said he would put a 9-mm gun into the security guard's mouth and pull the trigger, police said. When security asked for clarification, Fleissner said he would shoot the security guard through the eye, prompting them to call police, according to the report.

Fleissner was later transported to the Morris County Correctional Facility in lieu of $1,000 bail.
