Bear Complaint, Schooley's Mountain County Park Injury Among Recent Morris County Park Police Activity
Bears, counterfeit money, and illegal dumping are among other complaints in Morris County this past week.

This past week, the Morris County Park Police Department dealt with a few outstanding warrants, a group of bears making a mess of tent sites, and a counterfeit $50.
Aug. 8
Officers stopped a moving car in Morristown last Monday and discovered the 53-year-old driver had a number of warrants for having failed to appear in five different courts. The driver was able to post bail and was consequently released. His new court date is pending.

A worried citizen reported a suspicious male prowling around the Mennen Sports Arena in Morris Township. Officers located the suspect and advised without incident.

Officers responded to the report of bears causing damage to a few tent sites in the Mahlon Dickerson Reservation in Jefferson but the bears disappeared before the officers arrived.
Aug. 11
Dumping without authorization was reported on Patriot's Path in Mendham Township. The officers have turned over the investigation to the Detective's Bureau.
Aug. 12
A patron of the Schooley's Mountain County Park in Washington fell and hit her head. E.M.S. did arrive but she suffered a laceration from the incident.
A fake $50 bill was used to make a transaction in Morris County on August 9th or the 10th. Detectives are looking into issue of counterfeit money in the area.
Aug. 13
Officers on patrol in Hedden County Park in Dover observed two individuals in the park after hours. An investigation revealed that one of those individuals had a warrant for failure to appear in Glassboro Municipal Court. The individual was able to post bail and was released with a new court date pending.
