Black Maria Film Festival comes to the Morris Museum, October 30

featuring guest filmmaker, Anthony Jannelli

Black Maria Film Festival
Wednesday, October 30, 7:30PM

Since 1981, the Black Maria Film Festival, an international juried competition, has been celebrating and preserving the diversity, invention, and vitality of the short film. The focus is on films shining a light on issues and struggles within contemporary society. It is named after Thomas Edison’s original West Orange film studio dubbed the “Black Maria” because of its resemblance to the black-box police paddy wagons of the same name.

We're screening a selection of the 2019 award winners with Festival Director, Jane Steuerwald and guest filmmaker, Anthony Jannelli, who's animated film, The Velvet Underground Played at My High School will be featured followed by a Q&A. Selections include work from genres including animation, experimental, narrative, and documentary.
