Dog Looking For Another Home After NJ Owner Passes Away
Moose thought he found his forever home last year, but he's back at the rescue after his dad passed away.
MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — It looked like Moose already got his happy ending. The three-year-old Labrador mix was in his forever home, after he was adopted from Eleventh Hour Rescue last year. But then tragedy struck: Moose's adoptive dad died, and he's back at the rescue, looking for another home.
"Moose SCAS [first] came to 11th Hour Rescue a year ago. It took him awhile to find an adopter but in the meantime, he made lots of friends with kennel volunteers. They were won over by his happy personality & his love for life," the rescue said, adding, "We were all rooting for Moose to find his perfect home."
Eventually, Moose was adopted by a family. "He had kids to play with and people to give his love to and life seemed pretty darn good," the rescue said.

After settling into such a loving home, losing his family was hard on Moose.
"Moose sat patiently by his Dad's bed, waiting for him to come back, unaware of the fact that Dad has passed away," the rescue said. "Moose has taken the loss of his dad hard - he is a loyal and loving boy, just an amazing dog."

Eleventh Hour Rescue is now looking for another home for Moose, who does well with children of all ages and other dogs. He would be best in a home without small pets like birds or guinea pigs, and the rescue doesn't know how Moose fairs with cats.
"Moose is house trained and used a doggie door in his old house. He is good on leash although he's strong. He is just a terrific dog in so many ways," the rescue says.
Moose is just over three years old, the rescue says. He is about 59 pounds, microchipped and house trained. He has basic obedience training, and needs moderate exercise. He enjoys playing with toys and is a generally even-tempered, gentle, goofy dog.
