MINE HILL, NJ — Two dogs found left by the side of Route 46 in Mine Hill have found their happy ending: Both dogs have new forever homes lines up.

Hope, pictured above left, and her Italian Greyhound friend, right, were found in a crate on the side of the highway on Wednesday, Mine Hill officials said. Within 48 hours, both dogs had families to go home to when their seven-day animal control hold ends.

"This is one sad story that has a very happy ending!" Mine Hill officials said. "Thank you to everyone who shared and commented and helped us bring about this life changing day for these pups!"

The greyhound was taken immediately to the pound when it was found on Wednesday, but Hope needed medical attention first.

"She came through surgery like a champ! She has had her bladder stones removed, has been spayed, has a had a full dental - and will be ready for a foster or adoptive home this evening!" Mine Hill officials wrote on Thursday. The ten-year-old dog need her stitches out in two weeks and then a special diet for the rest of her life.
