Election Day 2019: Everything Morristown Needs To Know

MORRISTOWN, NJ — After a long campaign season, Election Day 2019 is finally here in Morristown. There are a number of races on the ballot in Washington Township this November, including the school board and town committee.

Here is everything you need to know about Election Day in your town:

What will be on my ballot?

Two candidates are running for a single seat to represent Morristown on the Morris School District Board of Education.

There are contested races Morristown Town Council in three wards, and an uncontested election in one ward.

Residents will also vote on their two representatives in the New Jersey State Assembly. Sen. Anthony M. Bucco and Brian Bergen are running on the Republican side, and Lisa Bhimani and Darcy Draeger are running on the Democratic side for the 25th District seat.

The Assembly election is an unusual one. Because Bucco just vacated his Assembly seat for an appointment in the Senate he is, in effect, running for a seat he will not fill. Should Bucco be elected to the Assembly, it would fall to the Morris County Republican Committee to appoint someone to that seat.

The Senate seat is not up for re-election this year.

Current Sheriff, the Republican James M. Gannon, is running for reelection. He is being challenged by Democrat William Schivella.

Democrat Michael T. Thompson is facing off against Republican Heather Darling for the surrogate seat.

Three seats on the Board of Chosen Freeholders are up for election. Republicans Douglas Cabana, Thomas Mastrangelo and Kathy DeFillippo are running against Democrats Cara Parmigiani, Cary Amaro, and David Timpanaro.

Where do I vote?

Your polling place is included on a sample ballot mailed out to all registered voters. If you're still not sure, or you misplaced that sample ballot, you can look up your polling location on the New Jersey Division of Election's website.

When can I vote?

Election Day 2019 is Tuesday, Nov. 5. Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Early voting hours are available on Monday, Nov. 4 in Morris County. Early voting hours are held at the Clerk's Office (10 Court St; Administration & Records Building; 1st Floor, Morristown) from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday. You will not be able to vote there on Tuesday.
