
Make this Earth Day more than simply showing appreciation for Planet Earth; have an unforgettable time by joining the Morris County Park Commission’s 5th Annual Earth Day Celebration! The celebration, held on Saturday, April 30 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Lewis Morris County Park in Morris Township, is a great way to learn about sustainable living while indulging in a day of lively music, great food, and fun for the entire family!
This event includes something for everyone, from guided nature walks, hands-on activities, face painting, games, dozens of interactive booths, crafts, and much more. By bringing a reusable water bottle, you get free filtered water all day, provided by Pur2O. The Nature Experience tent focuses on the wildlife and natural spaces found in New Jersey. Learn about the natural wonders right in your backyard! The Sustainability Showcase features interactive demonstrations on everything from solar power, to electric cars, to useful recycled products. A variety of delicious, healthy food and beverages are on sale in the Green Food Court, including organic, locally grown, and sustainably produced options!

Live musical entertainment is provided by a variety of local bands performing at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m. At 12 Noon and 2 p.m., on the main stage, Rizzo’s Reptile Discovery, sponsored by NJ Clean Communities, presents amazing live reptiles. New to the event this year is a FREE climbing wall. It’s worth finding out whether or not you have what it takes to make it to the top!
Trash Hat Contest

Create a hat out of items you would normally throw out – the wilder the better! You have a chance to proudly wear your hat design in the Trash Hat Parade at 1:30 p.m. Judges vote on the most creative hats, and the winners in each of the following age categories will be announced: 3-6, 7-12, 13-18, and 19 and up.
Donation Drive
In an effort to help the less fortunate, there is a collection for donations at the admission area. You will be able to drop off the items directly from your vehicle. The collection drive will accept computers (working or not), working electronics and appliances, house-wares, and clothing. Cartridge World will be taking your used ink and toner cartridges for recycling. Each cartridge recycled earns you a free gift and a donation of $1.00 to Shelter Helpers.
