Ex-Teacher From Randolph Sentenced To Three Years For Child Pornography

Judge sentences public school teacher to three years for distributing child pornography.

Superior Court Judge Catherine Enright sentenced a Randolph man to 3 years in New Jersey State Prison and imposed a $1500 fine for Endangering the Welfare of a Child--Distribution of Child Pornography, a second degree crime.

The Randolph man, 30 year-old Nicholas Schumacher, was a public school teacher in Bloomfield, NJ, at the time of the incident. According to the Morris County Prosecutor's Officer, the initial investigation began in 2015 after authorities received word from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and from the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force that Schumacher was uploading child pornography at his house in Randolph and his work at a school in Bloomfield. During the investigation, authorities found that Schumacher was already in possession of a large number of child pornography images.

Schumacher was forced to relinquish his teaching certificate and any prospect of finding public employment in the state of New Jersey, and is required to register as a sex offender under Megan’s Law. The Defendant, a public school teacher in Bloomfield, NJ at the time of the incident, was also required to relinquish his teaching certificate and forfeit future public employment in the State of New Jersey. Schumacher originally pled guilty to the charge on July 26, 2016.
