Fattys In Morristown To Close After New Year's Eve
The fat-sandwich restaurant will shutter because of the impending redevelopment on Morris Street.

MORRISTOWN, NJ — Even if you made a New Year's resolution to lose weight, this probably wasn't what you want to see. Fattys in Morristown announced it would close after New Year's Eve because of the impending redevelopment on Morris Street.
The fat-sandwich restaurant has served Morristown for nine years, and they'll continue to do so from 6:30 p.m. New Year's Eve to 3 a.m. New Year's Day.
"9 Years ago, I had a dream to serve and deliver yummy Fat Sandwiches all hours of the night," owner Michael Dey wrote on Facebook. "I found a great location in an even greater community. Thank you all so much for your continued patronage over the years! I love you all!"

Michael and Kaidi Dey will continue to serve some of the fat sandwiches at one of their other restaurants: Weenies, located in Madison.
Fattys was originally inspired by the infamous Rutgers University "grease trucks," which popularized "fat sandwiches" — overstuffed sandwiches which often include fries between the bread.
