First Night Morris County Going Virtual This Year Due To COVID

The pandemic won't stop the program that features more than 100 artists. Here's how to enjoy the festivities.

MORRISTOWN, NJ — Fight Night Morris County hasn't gone away. It's just going virtual.

Morristown's New Year's Eve celebration has been reimagined because of the coronavirus pandemic. This year's slate features more than 100 artists and over 40 performances, including dance, theater, comedy, music, visual arts, world cultures, children's programs and a film festival.

Programs will be available for streaming and on-demand. Prices start at $10, but for $20 those ringing in the new year will get a mailed button and schedule. Prices will increase Dec. 21.

New Year's celebrations won't be the same this year because of COVID-19. Gov. Phil Murphy lowered New Jersey's outdoor gathering limits to 25 people, excluding weddings, funerals, memorial services and religious and political activities.

The New Jersey Department of Health reported 427 new cases Tuesday in Morris County, bringing the area to 15,579 total cases, 727 confirmed deaths and 148 probable deaths since the pandemic began.
