The marker will be among eight installed throughout Morris County through 2022.

Correction: The marker will be among eight installed throughout Morris County through, not in, 2022.

MORRISTOWN, NJ — Morris County unveiled a new historic marker at the Morris County "pocket park" on the corner of Washington Street and Schuyler Place. The signs designate the historic significance of sites throughout the county.

About 155 markers have been placed throughout Morris County to recognize its history and heritage going back to the Revolution. The markers — installed since the mid-1970s — recognize historic buildings, districts, notable people and events in county history.

The county will install three more this year and four in 2022. They will get placed along various county roads, welcoming visitors from neighboring counties.

“I think it’s important to also note, we would have nothing to mark if not for our historic preservation program," said Stephen H. Shaw, director of the Morris County Board of Commissioners.
