Longtime Morris County Judge, Morristown Resident Dies At 83

Honorable Reginald Stanton served the county for three decades.

Morristown, N.J. – Known for his fair and honorable discourse with plaintiffs and defendants alike, Judge Reginald Stanton served in Superior Court in Morristown for decades.

The longtime jurist and Morristown resident died this week at the age of 83.

“The Morris County Board of Freeholders offer their deepest sympathy to the family of the Honorable Reginald Stanton, the long-time and well respected jurist who served on the bench in Morris County with honor for three decades,” said a joint statement from the Morris County Board of Chosen Freeholders.

Stanton served as a Superior Court Judge and Superior Court Assignment Judge from 1985 to 2003.

“He commanded the respect of all of those who entered his courtroom by treating defendants and plaintiffs with intelligence and dignity, serving as a model of excellence and integrity in our court system during his extraordinary judicial career,” the Freeholders said.

The flag is being lowered to half staff in front of the Morris County Courthouse in honor of Stanton.
