Meet The Filmmaker Behind Documentary On Warren County Disaster
The Hackettstown native's documentary, 'Extra 1104, The Story of the Rockport Train Wreck,' explores the worst disaster in Warren County.
MORRISTOWN, NJ — The documentary filmmaker who illustrated the worst disaster in Warren County's history is coming to Morris County next week to discuss the disaster, a 1925 train crash that left 47 dead.
The filmmaker, John W. General, is set to discuss the gruesome crash on Sunday, Feb. 23, at Morris Historical Society’s Acorn Hall at 1:30 p.m.
The documentary chronicles the story of the Lackawanna Railroad derailment in Mansfield Township wherein a passenger train filled largely with German immigrants derailed, filling passenger cars with hot steam from the train's boiler and leaving 47 dead and 23 injured.
