Morris Co. Restaurant Named Best Chinese In NJ For 3rd Year

DENVILLE, NJ — For the third year in a row, the popular Hunan Taste in Denville has been named the best Chinese restaurant in New Jersey by the Daily Meal.

The food and restaurant website regularly ranks the "best of" for different types of cuisines, and Hunan Taste has been a mainstay on their rankings of Chinese food. Here's what they had to say about the local eatery:

The upscale Hunan Taste is ornately decorated and a great place for a night out in suburban Denville, New Jersey; the restaurant has been pulling in the crowds since it was first opened by the Hsiung family in 1986. Popular favorites include soup dumplings, steamed or fried whole fish, Peking duck, mandarin pork chop, and sizzling filet mignon.

Daily Meal also highlighted that the restaurant offers more traditional Chinese dishes, like Sichuan beef, and beef tendon and tripe in hot pepper sauce (read the full description here).

The recognition has been good for business, the owners told the Daily Record, saying they've already seen crowds pick up. They also cited their devotion to classic Chinese food, and a resistance to the "fusion" menus popular at other places, for their success.

• Great, classic Chinese food, in a fun setting. We were there for a family birthday party. We were a party of 10, so we got a private party room. It was so nice to have our own space. My dad ordered Volcano beef and we got quite a good flame presentation table-side, by a member of the wait staff. All the other entrees were cooked to perfection.
• I have been going to this restaurant for 25 years. Although I am no longer in the area, it remains my favorite restaurant. The food is delicious, the restaurant is beautiful, and the service is amazing. I am about an hour drive from the restaurant, and the time to get there is well worth it. It is a great place for a date night, or to bring the kids.
• Everything you hear about the food is true. Its some of the best Chinese food you might ever have! I didn't feel bloated afterwards! The Mai Tai was excellent! It actually had booze in it!
