Morris County High School Students Learn How To Save Lives
Students from 22 Morris County High School attend weeklong safety training academy in Morristown, NJ.

With the number of mass deaths and other gun-related crimes showing no signs of abating, Morris County is arming high school students with a different kind of weapon: the ability to save lives.
The Fourth Annual Morris County Public Safety Youth Academy is taking place this week at the Morris County Public Safety Training Academy in Morristown, NJ. The five-day program, which kicked off yesterday, immerses high school students from 22 Morris County schools in training that could give them life-saving tools to help others, as well as themselves.
The military-style program includes public safety response and programs, as well as physical exercises. Students will learn how to react if in contact with an active shooter, participate in a virtual firearms training simulator, and understand how to respond in the event of emergencies. In addition, the cadets will watch demonstrations by the Morris County Sheriff's Emergency Response Team/Special Operations Group, K9 Unit, and Bomb Squad.
