MORRIS PLAINS, NJ — A Morris Plains man was arrested at Newark Airport this week after allegedly trying to bring a loaded gun through airport security, a Transportation Security Administration spokesperson said.

The man had a loaded Derringer, pictured above, in his carry-on Monday morning; it was found my security officers as the bag went through the X-ray scanner. It was loaded with four bullets when it was found.

"Size doesn't matter— big guns or small guns. No guns are permitted past a security checkpoint," a spokesperson said.

This is the eleventh gun found at security checkpoints in Newark this year, TSA officials said. Guns are allowed in checked baggage if they are unloaded, packed in a hard-sided case, locked, and packed separately from ammunition. They are not allowed in carry on bags.
