Morristown Adds 'PayByPhone' Option To Downtown Parking
The app, which allows people to pay for parking via smartphone, expanded to 1,200 Morristown spaces.

MORRISTOWN, NJ — There's a new way to pay for parking in downtown Morristown. The town added the PayByPhone app as an option for purchasing time at about 1,200 spaces.
The PayByPhone spaces — all in the central downtown district — are clearly marked and labeled, according to Gregory S. Deal, the Morristown Parking Authority's director of facilities. Additionally, Morristown did not take away any previously available payment options, he told Patch.
PayByPhone allows drivers to pay for parking via smartphone. The app sends text messages when a parking session expires and gives users the ability to extend time in the space. Drivers can use the app without registering for an account.

The app makes money through a service fee for each use. But PayByPhone doesn't sell users' data to outside parties, according to its privacy policy.
PayByPhone is expanding in New Jersey and will also become part of Bernardsville, Montclair State University, Cliffside Park, Fort Lee and Camden.
