Morristown COVID Update: 1st Vaccines Given, Hospital Data

MORRISTOWN, NJ — Here are the latest coronavirus updates around Morristown.

Cases

Officials reported 16 new coronavirus cases Thursday in Morristown, bringing the town to 1,185 infections since the pandemic began. According to the town, 13.5 percent of all Morristown cases are from longterm-care facilities.

The state Department of Health reported 207 new cases Thursday in Morris County, bringing the county to 17,547 cases, 756 confirmed deaths and 170 probable deaths since the pandemic began.

Recent Updates

• Morristown Medical Center began vaccinating staff Tuesday, which was the first day that any COVID-19 vaccines were administered in New Jersey. MORE.
• More than 1 out of every six hospital beds in Morris County is occupied by a patient being treated for the coronavirus, according to the latest data. MORE.
• But the Morristown Medical Center feels confident they won't overflow, even with a potential holiday surge in hospitalizations. MORE.
