Cases and Vaccinations
Morristown reported 10 new cases Wednesday, bringing the town to 1,432 cases since the pandemic began. Morris County officials have reported 82 new cases in Morristown since Jan. 5.

Morris County has had 23,334 confirmed cases, 3,686 probable cases, 817 confirmed deaths and 194 probable deaths to date, according to the New Jersey Department of Health.

The state health department has logged 20,950 vaccine doses administered in Morris County as of noon Thursday. Morris County has an estimated population of 491,845, and the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines each require two doses per person.

- The vacant Sears at the Rockaway Townsquare Mall no longer stands empty. One of New Jersey's six "Mega COVID-19 Vaccination Centers" opened Friday in the mall. MORE.
- Morris County will cut back on its recently introduced at-home coronavirus testing program. Soon the county will only offer at-home tests to homebound, symptomatic residents. County officials launched free, home testing Dec. 5 for all residents and people who work in the county. But after introducing the program, officials found too many people "hoarded" the available tests. People have ordered about 16,300 at-home tests from the county, while only 7,500 have been returned, according to officials. MORE.

- Gov. Phil Murphy announced on Wednesday that New Jersey will expand COVID-19 vaccine distribution to seniors over the age of 65 and others with medical conditions, and he's going to add more sites for immunization. MORE.
