Morristown Partnership Announces Commercial Rent Relief Program

Applications for the Morristown Partnership's commercial rent relief program will be accepted beginning Wednesday

MORRISTOWN, NJ—The Morristown Partnership, a nonprofit whose mission is to help local businesses in downtown Morristown, has announced plans to provide commercial rent relief grants after a substantial anonymous donation was made.

A total of $250,000 will be awarded to businesses who apply, are selected via lottery and meet eligibility requirements. Award amounts will vary, with a maximum amount of $20,000.

Applications for the three month rent relief will be accepted online and in person beginning Wednesday, September 23, 2020 at 12:00 p.m. through Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at 5:00 p.m.

Printed applications and grant program information can also be obtained at the Partnership office located at 14 Maple Avenue, Suite 201 in Morristown during business hours of Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

After the application window closes, applicants will be entered into a random lottery system to ensure fair selection of grant recipients. Businesses selected via lottery will be contacted around October 15, 2020.

Grants will be used exclusively for three months of rent, with a maximum of $20,000 total, from November 2020 through January 2021.

A mandatory requirement of all applications is the participation of the businesses’ property owner, who must comply with a 20 percent rent reduction for the duration of the three months. Commercial rent relief grants will be paid in a lump sum directly to the property owner.
