Newly Transformed Headquarters Plaza On Display In Morristown

The 1-acre public square will soon open for use.

MORRISTOWN, NJ — After years in the works, town officials introduced the newly renovated Headquarters Plaza. The 1-acre space is set to open in July, but the town gave the public a preview Thursday.

The design features flexible space for gatherings and events, along with ample seating and greenery.

Headquarters Plaza features 600,000 square feet of office space. As presented to the Planning Board in 2019, the new public square allows for events such as farmers markets, weddings and corporate gatherings.

Mayor Tim Dougherty said that before the project, the outdoor space had been "uninviting."

"This was the product that came out of public input, with private entities, with public administration," he said. "That is really what we’re all about — the public, the government and private business working together, and look what they’ve accomplished."

The nearby Hyatt Regency also temporarily suspended operations in March for a renovation project that will include guest rooms, meeting spaces, a new lobby and food and beverage options.
