Poor Air Quality Alert from the NJDEP for Thursday

Morristown Cooling Center will be open if temperature reaches 90 degrees.

The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection has issued an Ozone Alert for Thursday, with Ozone forecast to reach the "unhealthy for sensitive groups" category across most of New Jersey "due to light southerly winds, mostly sunny skies, and hot humid conditions," according to a NJDEP release.

"Sensitive individuals, including the very young, the elderly, and persons with respiratory diseases such as asthma should avoid strenuous outdoor activities during the afternoon and early evening hours," the release states. "In addition, moderate fine particle levels are forecast throughout the Garden State. New Jersey residents and businesses are advised to avoid or reduce activities that will add to air pollution, such as vehicle use, lawn mowing, painting, and wood burning."
