“We’re grateful to all the golfers and sponsors who support our mission,” said Matt Mirett, event chair. “Together, we raised more than $125,000 to support quality preschool education for families who are above the poverty limit, but don’t make enough to afford preschool in Morris and Somerset Counties. We’d also like to recognize our Tournament Sponsors: The Hampshire Companies, DavosPharma, and Carol & Ray Hawkins.”

The need for quality preschool has never been greater. The Wall Street Journal recently reported on a new study that followed Boston public school students from 1997 to present. The findings: children who attended preschool were more likely to graduate from high school and attend college, and less likely to be suspended from school or to be incarcerated as juveniles or young adults.

“When combined with what we already know, that 85% of brain development occurs before age 5, and that children from economically disadvantaged families often begin kindergarten with a significant deficit in vocabulary and social skills, the new research validates and adds to our understanding of the many benefits of high-quality preschool programs,” said Nancy Bangiola, Executive Director of Preschool Advantage. “We know that when children are enrolled in high-quality preschool programs, they flourish.” Preschool Advantage is on track to fund preschool tuition for 100 children for the 2021-22 school year, and we are still accepting applications for the fall.
