Rockaway 6th Grader Who Passed Away Remembered As Charitable And Outdoorsy
Following her sudden death, Mallory Grossman is remembered as a selfless, giving spirit.
ROCKAWAY, NJ — Mallory Grossman, a Rockaway sixth grader who died suddenly last week, was an outdoorsy pre-teen who loved raising money for her favorite charity, according to her obituary.
Mal loved the outdoors and nature. She loved flowers, every color and shape. She was compassionate. She raised money often and would send every penny to her favorite charity, Camp Good Days. This camp provides summer camp experiences for children with cancer and children who have lost someone dear to them with cancer. Selfless. It was her giving spirit and love for all people and things that drove her to move mountains. Another lesson.
Mallory was artsy and talented. She made jewelry (of course she sold it all to benefit Camp Good Days) and was always crafting something. She was creative and very much an entrepreneur. She was gifted and wise beyond her years. Truly, an Old Soul.
She is survived by her mother, Dianne, her father, Seth, her three siblings Carlee, Kristen and Ryan ("She looked up to them and loved them. She loved everyone," her obituary says of her siblings). She is also survived by grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, best friends, and her two dogs.
In the days following her unexpected death, the local community has rallied around her family, raising more than $62,000 for her funeral in a GoFundMe drive.

"As we have far exceeded our goal, the family would like everyone to know that they will use this to lift Mallory up, celebrate her, and make sure she has a voice. Together as a community we can raise our voices up so no other family has to go through this again," organizer Katee Reddin Petro wrote on the campaign.
