September 22 Fall Equinox Will Feel More Like Summer In Morris County

Fall officially starts Thursday but don't get your sweaters and hot ciders out just yet.

Fall definitely feels like it's here, with pumpkin- and apple-picking events popping up all over the place, red and gold leaves dropping in droves, and the PSL frenzy beginning once again for the 13th year in a row--but it's not official until the autumnal equinox, which will happen tomorrow at exactly 10:21 AM in the Eastern Time Zone.

But even with official Fall just around the corner, don't get your "Fall Guy" sweaters out quite yet. The 2016 Fall Equinox will feel a lot more like a very warm summer's day.

According to the venerated record-keeping of the Farmer's Almanac, the autumnal equinox usually falls on the 22nd or the 23rd of September. The average temperature on those two days, according to the weather data archiving site, Weather Underground, hovers in the low 70s, and often the high 60s.

For 2016, the equinox tomorrow will fall on a day when we feel like it's the high 80s in Morris County. So until that cold front forecast for this weekend sweeps in, ask for PSL on ice.
