A Trip to Austria for U18 Athletes with Volleyball(ish) Skills

2020 National Team Tryouts announced by US Fistball Association

The United States Fistball Association (USFA) is inviting young men and women born in 2002 or later to attend tryouts for the U18 National Fistball Team that will compete in the Fistball World Championships in Austria during July 2020. Tryouts will be held in Roxbury beginning in December 2019 and continue into January 2020.

“As a U18 team, athletes age out and we need to build new teams every 2 years. It is anticipated that there will be players with no previous experience. Our coaching staff will provide instruction to create a competitive team to bring to Austria.” - USFA President Bob Feid.

Fistball is a very exciting and fast paced international team sport consisting of five players on each team and is very similar to Volleyball in many ways, Fistball also allows for three individual touches by players using a closed fist - plus an added bounce allowed before each touch. As in volleyball when receiving a serve from the opposing team, the idea is to save, set and spike the ball back into the opponent's half of the field. All U18 athletes are encouraged to attend the tryouts and clinics to learn more about the fundamentals and strategies of Fistball.
