Unexpected iPad Shipment Was Theft Scam: Morris Twp PD

Police say the resident was unexpectedly shipped three iPad Pros as part of a scam.

MORRIS TOWNSHIP, NJ — An unexpected shipment of three iPad Pros was really a theft scam, Morris Township police said.

A Morris Township resident recieved the three iPads, sent via FedEx, earlier this month, police said. The resident wasn't expecting them, nor had they ordered them.

A little while later, a person with a fake ID showed up at the residents home, claiming the package was just sent to the wrong address.

Despite having the identification to make the scam seem legitimate, police are warning other residents about avoiding this tactic.

"We realize that this seems completely reasonable and when someone shows an ID that it makes it believable, " police said. "So here is what we are asking… if a package comes to your address and is not for you or someone in your home, please call (973) 539-0777 so an officer can respond. Never let anyone in your home you don’t know."
