According to data collected by the National Association of Realtors and USPS, states with a declining population size in 2019 are now experiencing the highest migration gains during the pandemic.

While the population declined by 0.3% in New Jersey in 2019, New Jersey gained more people during the pandemic. During March and October of 2020, New Jersey gained nearly 2,000 people compared to 1,100 a year earlier.
