WWII Vet, Morristown Business Owner Dies At 96

Warren Boin, Sr. lead an active, independent life.

MENDHAM TWP., N.J. – Looking at his accomplishments, Warren Boin, Sr. was one of the most interesting men in Morris County for more than half a century.

Boin died recently at the age of 96 in his Mendham Township home, according to his obituary. All funeral arrangements were handled by Bailey Funeral Homes.

Boin was born in Brookly, New York and graduated Syracuse University in 1942 before serving in the United States Army from 1944 to 1946.

Arts and crafts were a lifelong passion for Boin, who, along with his mother and father founded and opened Boin Arts and Crafts in Morristown. He ran the business with his brother for more than 50 years until his retirement in 1990.

In 1968 Boin discovered barbershop singing and joined the Dapper Dans of Harmony in Livingston, which went on to win the International Championship in 1970.

After his retirement he spent a quarter century teaching arts and crafts while traveling the globe with his wife of 66 years, Norma.

He was also a model and was featured in ads for Brooks Brothers, Merrill Lynch, Hilton, AT&T, and Flo Max. Boin was also a member of the Board of Directors for the Salvation Army.

Boin was predeceased by his wife Norma in 2012.

He is survived by two sons, a daughter, and six grandchildren.
