3 Of 4 Flights At Newark Airport Canceled Ahead Of Winter Storm
The situation is looking ugly at Newark Airport amid a winter storm. It may get worse before it gets better, officials say.
NEWARK, NJ — The situation is looking ugly at Newark Liberty International Airport amid forecasts of a severe winter storm, and it may get worse before it gets better, officials say.
According to forecasters, heavy snow is possible and winds could gust as high as 50 mph. More than an inch per hour could fall during the height of the storm, which could be anytime between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday, although snow could also fall before then, the National Weather Service said. As of Monday morning, the weather had canceled three of four flights at Newark Airport, Port Authority officials reported.

“Approximately 75 percent of flights scheduled for [Monday] have been canceled, with additional cancellations possible,” the Port Authority stated.
While de-icing and snow removal operations are occurring at #EWRAirport, travelers should confirm flight status before arriving to the airport. Approximately 75% of flights scheduled for today have been cancelled with additional cancellations possible.

There will be no NJ Transit bus or rail service to and from Newark Airport on Monday, officials said.

The weather also caused delays on the AirTrain, officials stated.

Travelers should check their flight status before leaving home, and only those with confirmed flights should come to the airport, officials said.
