NEWARK, NJ — Looking for a furry forever friend in Essex County? The Associated Humane Societies (AHS) of Newark may have a dog or cat in need of a home that’s a perfect match.

The AHS states on its website:

“Newark has approximately 300 cats and dogs, kittens and puppies available for adoption daily. Generally, 25 to 30% of our residents awaiting homes are purebred and are no more or less lovable than our many mixed breeds and domestic shorthair cats.”

The AHS recommends that interested adopters check out the current list of available animals at its Petfinder profile here. You can also learn more about adopting animals at AHS’ Newark facility here.
