East Side High School Among Honorees At Panasonic Young Filmmakers Contest

East Side High School came away with the New Vision Award.

World hunger is a tough issue for young filmmakers to tackle, but such a challenge challenge is what gave Ft. Pierce, Florida's Lincoln Park Academy the edge.

Panasonic awarded Lincoln Park Academy 2014 Best Video of the Year yesterday at its 25th Annual Kid Witness News Video Competition at its Newark headquarters.

East Side High School, also in Newark, was among the honorees alongside Vista Academy of Denver and Prairie Elementary School in Prairie, Oklahoma. East Side High won the contest's New Vision award.

This year's theme was "The World Through Their Eyes." All finalists went through the first round of competition as a team of students and faculty at City University of New York's Bronx Community College selected the top 10 videos to move on.

A panel of professional judges selected the top four winners.

“When Panasonic started 'Kid Witness News' 25 years ago, little did anyone know what kind of a worldwide impact it would have on hundreds of thousands of students,” said Bob Marin, Vice President and General Counsel, Panasonic Corporation of North America. “Today, we are pleased to honor the winning teams who have demonstrated their creativity in letting us see 'The World Through Your Eyes.'”
