Essex County Closes Office, Delays Events
Buildings, park roadways, golf courses closed; warming shelters opened
Essex County said it would close senior buildings, walking paths and roads in the parks system and golf courses due to the winter storm that is expected to dump up to a foot of snow and a quarter-inch of ice on the region.
Essex County said Turtle Back Zoo and Codey Arena, in West Orange, would have delayed openings.
Essex County’s Code Blue procedures have been in effect since Jan. 26, when the last major storm dumped up to eight inches of snow on the state. The designation allows authorities to take homeless individuals to shelters that make beds available.
