Ironbound Community Corporation and Councilman Augusto Amador Host Reception and Check Distribution for Victims of Lafayette St. Fire
Fund will be collected for the affected families until January 30, 2015.

On Saturday, November 15th at 9:30 p.m. a devastating fire hit 3 multi-family homes on Lafayette St. displacing 36 individuals including 15 children. No injuries were reported. ICC immediately responded, working with the Newark Fire Department and the Red Cross. The ICC opened our doors at our Community Center at 432 Lafayette St. and provided meals and comfort to the families while the Red Cross processed the residents to receive immediate aid. The fire completely destroyed the homes and all items in the home were lost.
ICC and East Ward Councilman Augusto Amador immediately began to collect and distribute food, clothing and household items to the families. Together they fundraised for the fire victims, with ICC acting as fiscal agent to collect and distribute 100% of the funds directly to the families. ICC took on some of the families as clients in their Family Success Center to advocate for them throughout the recovery process, assist in finding new homes and generally rebuild their lives. ICC also supplied holiday gifts to the children affected.
Join in on Friday, December 19th at 6:00pm as ICC and Augusto Amador will distribute near $8,000.00 collected to the families. This will take place in the same Ironbound Community Center where they were received on the night of the fire, located at 432 Lafayette St. in Newark, NJ 07105.
