Jersey City Man Accused Of Stabbing Father To Death In Newark

Police found the 60-year-old victim when they went to do a wellness check at his apartment.

NEWARK, NJ — A New Jersey man has been accused of stabbing his father to death in Newark, prosecutors announced Tuesday.

Noah Jennings, 22, of Jersey City, was arrested and charged with murder in connection with the fatal stabbing of his father, Phillip Jennings, 60, according to a joint statement from the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and the Newark Department of Public Safety.

Jennings has also been charged with unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, prosecutors said.

Authorities said police discovered Jennings on Friday when they went to do a wellness check at his apartment on Oration Street, the alleged location of the stabbing.

The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force, which includes detectives from the Newark Police Department, is investigating the stabbing. No additional information was immediately available.
