AirTrain Suspended At Newark Airport: ‘Severe’ Northeast Storm Causes Travel Advisory

Commuters should contact their airlines for flight information prior to arrival at Newark Airport, officials said.

NEWARK, NJ — Port Authority officials suspended the Newark AirTrain on Monday and warned commuters to contact their airlines for flight information prior to arrival at Newark Liberty International Airport on Monday due to stormy weather conditions.

A Port Authority alert issued at 6:52 a.m. stated that “due to anticipated severe weather in the Northeast, [passengers should] contact their airlines for flight information prior to arriving at #EWR Airport.”

A similar warning was issued for LaGuardia Airport at 5 a.m.

Port Authority officials issued another alert at 1 p.m., stating:

"Depending on the severity of the storm, airlines may cancel flights in advance, so travelers should check with their carriers before going to the airport. The Port Authority also will have supplies of cots and other essential items ready to accommodate passengers who may become stranded at the airports. In addition, service on AirTrain Newark was suspended at 1 p.m. today and bus shuttles are available as an alternative. AirTrain JFK remains in operation and will be monitored by Port Authority staff."
