Newark Arts Icons Capture 2020 'People's Choice Awards'
Awardees included NJPAC, the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, Paul Robeson Galleries, the Newark Arts Festival and Newark School of the Arts.
NEWARK, NJ — Several Newark icons captured "People's Choice Awards" for 2020, adding to a growing legacy of artistic prowess in the city.

"Favorite Large Performing Arts Center" - New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC)
According to JerseyArts: "The New Jersey Performing Arts Center serves as a model for programming, audience diversity, education initiatives, and as a catalyst in returning nightlife and economic activity to its hometown of Newark, NJ. NJPAC is a world-class and community-based cultural venue, showcasing national and international touring artists."

"Favorite Art Gallery" - Paul Robeson Galleries
According to JerseyArts: "The Paul Robeson Galleries is dedicated to presenting art and cultural artifacts as well as educational and public programming in the spirit of the diverse metropolitan context of Rutgers University – Newark. This mission is carried out in the presentation of visual arts exhibitions, gallery education, and public programs, in a network of exhibition spaces."
"Favorite Symphony/Orchestra" - New Jersey Symphony Orchestra (NJSO)
According to JerseyArts: "The NJSO is comprised of some of the country’s finest musicians and is proud to have Xian Zhang as its Music Director. Artistic excellence, innovative programming, and community engagement are hallmarks of its mission. The orchestra brings its programs to six different venues throughout the state."
"Favorite Visual Arts Festival" - Newark Arts Festival
According to JerseyArts: "Newark Arts Festival celebrates the rich diversity of the city’s expanding arts scene and welcomes the world to experience an exciting array of artist exhibitions, forums, studio tours, performances, mural excursions, screenings, children’s events, and more."
"Favorite Adult Art Class" - Newark School of the Arts
According to JerseyArts: "The Newark School of the Arts provides high-level training in the performing and visual arts. Since 1968, the school has offered instruction for everyone with an interest in the arts regardless of age, talent, and financial resources. NSA is a family- and community-oriented school that has served over 50,000 individuals since its inception, and provides education for 600 students each week."
"Favorite Performing Arts Camp" - NJPAC Summer Program
According to JerseyArts: "NJPAC provides transformative creative experiences for students age 10–18, from beginner workshops to pre-professional intensives. Summer programs include the Geri Allen Jazz Camp, the Hip Hop Intensive, and the Young Artist Summer Intensive."
