Newark Coronavirus Cases Rise 62 Percent In 3 Months

Newark's cumulative COVID-19 cases are up 62 percent since January. See month-by-month totals for the past year.

NEWARK, NJ — Newark's cumulative coronavirus cases have risen 62 percent in the past three months, according to statistics from Essex County officials.

The city's total COVID-19 cases stood at 21,520 on Jan. 1. As of April 1, that total had risen to 34,885.

There have also been 910 cumulative deaths linked to the disease in Newark, a 18.6 percent rise from Jan. 1, when the total stood at 767.
