ORIGINAL STORY: It was back to a Newark animal shelter for Tek this week, who was adopted as a pup and returned to the same place after 15 years.
On Wednesday, the Associated Humane Popcorn Park Shelter shared the sad story of Tek, a pooch who was adopted at the AHS-Newark facility 15 years ago. Unfortunately, Tek’s owner was forced to surrender him because they’re moving out of the country and can’t bring him along.

“We would love to see this sweet boy spend the remainder of his golden years in a home with the forever family he deserves,” shelter staff wrote.

“His nails are overgrown and his skin is a bit dry and itchy, but overall he seems pretty spunky for his age. Tek is an easy-going boy, fine with all handling and even gave our evaluator gentle kisses. He sat and offered paw for a treat, which he accepted softly from our fingers. Tek showed no interest in our toy selection, but playfully chased his tail like a young pup. He had no issues sharing his food bowl and was relaxed with the calm female dog he met outside.”
Anyone interested in giving Tek a forever home can stop by AHS-Newark at 124 Evergreen Avenue and refer to file #36527. The shelter is open daily from noon to 5 p.m. Call 973-824-7080 or email associatedhumane@aol.com for more information.
