His passing was mourned by Newark native Michael B. Jordan, who wrote in a touching obituary message that he “wishes he had more time” with his co-star.

U.S. Rep. Donald Payne Jr. of New Jersey’s 10th District, which includes Newark, also mourned for the late movie star.

"Chadwick Boseman's death was very personal to me because I know what it feels like to lose a loved one suddenly to colon cancer," Payne said, referring to his late father, Donald Payne Sr., who served as New Jersey's first African American congressman.
