A "Love and Unity Iftar" in Newark drew dozens of community members in commemoration of the Ramadan holiday.

NEWARK, NJ — A “Love and Unity Iftar” in Newark drew dozens of community members in commemoration of the Ramadan holiday earlier this month.
The event – hosted by the Council of Newark Imams and the Mayor’s Office of Clergy Affairs –included a speech from Newark Mayor Ras Baraka. (Watch video below)
The first day of fasting for Ramadan, the holiest month of the year for Muslims, kicked off May 6 in the United States, Europe and most Arab nations for 2019, Al Jazeera reported.
