The first baby of 2021 at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center just couldn't wait for her entry into the world.
NEWARK, NJ — The first baby of 2021 at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center just couldn’t wait for her entry into the world, being born in the ambulance bay of the busy hospital on New Year’s Day.
Gabrielle Gonzalez of Newark was still in the ambulance bay when she gave birth to her daughter, Aaliyah Ana Delia Jefferson, at 2:10 a.m. on Friday, hospital administrators said.
The newborn weighed 6 pounds 14 ounces.

EMS workers and the Newark Beth Israel Medical Center emergency department team worked quickly to get the new mother and baby out of the cold and up to the labor and delivery suite in the women’s health unit, where both were “resting comfortably,” administrators said.
