Newark Man Charged With Murder After East Orange Shooting: Police

An Essex County man was charged with murder. He is also accused of being a convicted felon in possession of a weapon, prosecutors said.

NEWARK, NJ — A Newark man has been charged with murder in connection with a fatal shooting that happened in East Orange last weekend, authorities said.

Terrance Nelson, 35, of Newark, has been arrested and charged with the murder in connection with the death of Shakur Robinson, 34, also of Newark, according to a joint statement from the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and the East Orange Police Department.

Robinson was fatally shot in a home on the 500-block of South Clinton Street in East Orange on Saturday, prosecutors said.

Nelson was charged with murder and illegal possession of a weapon. He was also charged with being a convicted felon in possession of a weapon, prosecutors said.
